iOS 5 on all versions of iPod Touch

It doesn’t seem that long since the iPod Touch was first released on September 5th 2007. With iPodTouchNews.co.uk set up just one month after the launch we have been bringing you all the latest news, tips, tricks, since the beginning nearly 4.5 years now!

That brings us onto the main topic of this post. The older generation iPod Touches no longer receive iOS updates with the first generation most recent being iOS 3.1.3! I’m sure there are still a few of these out in the wild (we still have ours!) that wish they could update to the latest and greatest iOS 5.

Well there is a jailbreak workaround that supposedly plays nicely with 1st and 2nd Gen iPhod Touches but don’t expect the same fluid performance as todays newer models called Whited00r.

Whited00r claims to be a modified firmware version of the real deal and includes, multitasking, reminders and iCloud’ish like features via Dropbox integration. Also includes Newsstand, folders etc.

“Installing Whited00r you will get a fully optimised device, just in a few minutes, with a simple restore of your iPhone or iPod Touch,” it says. “Your device will be fast and productive again. Whited00r is the best solution for your Apple device, both for power and inexperienced users.”

Whited00r is completely free and available from:
